Kid-friendly Charter

   So you are looking to go fishing with your family....but have little ones. Your wondering "Will the kids have fun, are they old enough, can they catch the fish themselves, Inshore or Offshore? " Well I will try to ease your mind here.
   Bent Charters is owned and run by a "Family" with kids. We love to help the younger ones while mom and dad can fish themselves! With children of our own from 5 yrs old to 18 we know the ropes! Mate Heather stays right with the little ones coaching and assisting them so they can reel in their own fish. She even captures pictures and sonetimes video. It really is a great experience for all ages.
  
Our children have been fishing on boats since they were tots. By 2 they can handle equipment with help. Every child is different so we help out however makes the child comfortable.
 
  The Offshore trips are much better for little ones because the bite is more predictable and steady. Inshore trips require casting and reeling constantly so it lowers the involvement a little. But even then we are happy to get them reeling in fish.

  So feel free to bring the children to share in the fun. The memories you make together will last a lifetime!

Cant keep Grouper??? We can still fill the box.

   Our customers like to fish with us for many different reasons. One reason is our ability to fill the cooler. Regulations on grouper have made it hard to take meat home. Bent Charters does everything it can within the guidelines of the laws to make our customers happy. So when Jovote and Michael called on us to catch tons of meat to take home out of grouper season we turned to Key West grunts (aka gray snapper).
  We put them on over 100 fish in 6 hours! They were bringing them in left and right. Happy customers indeed.

Tyler stole the show!

Ryan called Bent Charters looking to get his son and friends on the water for some action.
Minnesota weather made this chilly florida day no biggie for them. So off to the bait traps. Showing the kids the several types of crabs we get and putting live bait in the well was quick.     First stop only caught a couple so we moved twice then hit a good one. Elijah was pulling in the red grouper left and right!  He even joked of not getting a break. The back of boat had action from Nick and Isaiah bringing in the grunts for the box and grouper for pics. Tyler changed up rods from a 6/0 to a 3/0 with 40lb test and a chicken rig. He was steadily pulling in dinner. Isaiah and Nick brought in 2 very nice Gag grouper about 10-12 pounders. Then Tyler had a hit he realized he needed a little help with....he caught an 18 lb Gag Grouper on his chicken rig with chunks of thread fins! Wow..what a great job. After all the excitement a few more were pulled up , even a big puffer fish (blow fish). Ryan had his share Red grouper and helping Tyler with his Gag.
All in all it was a great 4 hour trip and great pictures to prove their fish stories.

Lou's family Good News trip with Bent Charters

Lou booked with Bent Charters to take his family out fishing. Good News vessel took all six out for a fun day on the Gulf of Mexico. Leaving their snowy home in the north for some sunshine and saltwater brought them to Treasure Island, Fl.
Starting with trolling they reeled in half a dozen mackeral and we headed farther for the grouper and snapper. Pulling up on the stop Mate Heather demonstrated how to use the reels. Giving the first to Littleman Zach she told him he would have a fish before the next rod even got baited....and he was on! He reeled in his grouper with MUCH excitement.  As each line went in the poles were tugging.
Lou (pop) and Shirl watched as sons and grandsons reeled em up. After awhile Lou decided to take up a rod and go for the "Biggest" fish friendly bet. Well .... 1st fish was it! Nice Gag Grouper secured that spot which held to the end.Jay and Zach were a pretty close second.
We decided to test the skill at the Mango spot for some fish in the box. Lou was an instant winner. Jay and Randy were getting schooled but kept in the game bringing in grouper. Mango are tricky and will strip you clean. Randy Jr got a great surprise and gave good fight to likely a shark. Walking the boat he fought well but was cut off before we could see it.

Grouper been on fire with Bent Charters!

Mother Nature has been putting some temperature drop but the grouper arent bothered! Maybe it's because they know they were out of season. They still are a whole lot of fun catch and release.
Even on a 4 hour trip we have been reeling them in. So if you are looking for a good time with your family book a trip with Bent Charters out Madeira/Treasure island/Johns Pass area and you will not be sorry.
